1 Federal Theatre Project
сокр FTP; истПрограмма, осуществлявшаяся в 1935-39 в период "Нового курса" [ New Deal] президента Ф. Рузвельта [ Roosevelt, Franklin Delano (FDR)]. Стала самой крупной правительственной театральной программой в истории страны. Благодаря этой программе тысячи театральных актеров и работников сцены получили работу, а неимущие слои населения - возможность посещать театры. За счет ассигнований Конгресса было поставлено более 1200 спектаклей (более 800 пьес) и учрежден журнал "Федерал тиэтер мэгэзин" [Federal Theatre Magazine]. Была оказана поддержка экспериментальным постановкам и драматургам. В Нью-Йорке особое внимание было уделено постановке новых пьес, афро-американскому театру, постановке "живой газеты" ["living newspaper"] о текущих событиях и другим разделам программы. 2 Works Progress Administration
сокр WPA; истФедеральное независимое ведомство [ independent agency], созданное в 1935 по инициативе президента Ф. Д. Рузвельта [ Roosevelt, Franklin Delano (FDR)] и ставшее основным в системе трудоустройства безработных в ходе осуществления "Нового курса" [ New Deal]. Существовало до 1943, с 1939 под названием Администрация программ общественных работ [Work Projects Administration (WPA)]. С 1942 ее функции стали переходить в ведение управляющего по федеральным работам [Federal Works Administrator]. В 1935-39 Администрацию возглавлял Г. Гопкинс [ Hopkins, Harry Lloyd]. За 8 лет своего существования она предоставила работу около 8 млн. человек; стоимость работ, проведенных под ее руководством, составила более 11 млрд. долларов. В основном средства выделялись на строительство общественных сооружений, обустройство парков, в том числе национальных. Администрация финансировала Федеральную театральную программу [ Federal Theatre Project], Федеральную программу развития искусств [Federal Art Project], Федеральную программу помощи писателям [Federal Writers' Project] с целью предоставления работы творческой интеллигенции, а также Национальную администрацию по делам молодежи [ National Youth Administration]. Критики обвиняли Администрацию в растрате крупных средств впустую и использовании ее в целях поддержки местных боссов Демократической партии [ Democratic Party].
